RW Capital Partners is raising capital for a lower middle market mezz fund, the 1847 SBIC Mezzanine Fund, LP. They recently received their green light letter from the SBA with respect to SBIC licensing. Government provided leverage (2:1) in combination with the lending opportunities in the lower middle market make this a very appealing strategy.

Greenhill Capital Partners does its first deal since splitting off from Greenhill & Co with Acrisure. I’m curious why every press release or article about this deal describes Acrisure as an insurance broker when it appears to be a PEO.

Nice little article on regional banks providing senior loan financing to middle market and lower middle market borrowers. While certainly they are the exception and not the rule, it is worth noting that some banks that aren’t completely crushed by commercial real estate are thinking more creatively.

Anyone know the purchase price and terms on the FBR-Watch Hill deal?

Seems like hardly a day goes by without mention of private equity and banking in the same article, blog posting, whatever. That’s not to say that there are not good deals to be had, in particular, if you can negotiate a loss sharing agreement with the FDIC. But there is much more competition than some of these articles would lead the reader to believe – there are plenty of bids out there.
